The object of the agreement is the creation of multifunctional energy complex on the basis of energy accumulators with hydrogen circle (MEC). Such complexes can be used as regular power sources, large-capacity storage devices, to equalize the loads and to reserve capacities. They also let supply with energy the consumers not connected with electric mains of centralized power supply (for example in the distant regions of the country).
According to the energy strategy of Russian Federation during the period up to 2030, creation of the multifunctional energy complexes is one of the areas in the innovative, scientific and technical policy in the energy sector of Russia.
The technology of energy generation with the help of MEC is unique. Here the closed-loop production cycle is employed. The electrolyzer can be supplied with electric power using not only the conventional sources of energy but also solar battery or wind generator.
The specific mass energy and unit power of MEC exceed the same indices of the conventional rechargeable batteries two-fivefold. The storage device is capable to work non-stop without maintenance for a long time, and its work can be automated.
At first, according to the agreement the trial design of MEC will be created and placed as a regular power source in INVENT Technopolis, where the main manufacturing enterprises of “INVENT” group are situated. Then MEC will be supplied with alternative sources of energy (solar and wind energy). After the manufacturing process and production costs are optimized, small-scale and full-scale production of MEC will be established.
