The meeting «About the measures on development of power engineering in Russian Federation» took place on the 8th of April in St Petersburg. In the meeting took part official persons – representatives of the government of Russian Federation: Vice-premier of Russian Federation, Igor Sechin, Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North-Western Federal District, Ilya Klebanov, Minister of Energy of Russian Federation, Sergey Shmatko and others, heads of state corporations, energy companies, representatives of large-scale business including top-managers of power engineering companies.
Vladimir Putin pointed out that the industry had good prospects and enormous potential, which should be effectively used and developed, more actively developing and manufacturing next-generation technology, which will not be inferior to foreign counterparts in terms of the key features of efficiency and environmental friendliness.
According to him Russia is to become one of the world’s leading equipment and technology providers for the fuel and energy sector. Russian companies alone intend to purchase power engineering products worth 3,1 trillion roubles. This is the foundation for modernization; this is real money to modernize facilities rather than to manufacture goods only.
«Russian power producers are expected to commission power generating facilities with a total capacity of more than 170 GW by 2030. Simultaneously we also have to deeply modernize Russia’s grid infrastructure, repair the existing infrastructure and build new transformer facilities and power transmission lines», - said Prime Minister. He made a special emphasis that it was important to make sure that only modern equipment was installed and materials suitable for extreme climate conditions were used during this modernization.
In his turn Minister of Energy of Russian Federation, Sergey Shmatko reported that the industry would need 20 trillion roubles until 2030 to construct new facilities and modernize the grid. Eleven trillion roubles would be required over the next 10 years to develop energy complex.
Summing up the results of the meeting Vladimir Putin advised not to be afraid to invest into power engineering development, because today’s investments were bound to be repaid. Prime Minister called upon sate corporations and private companies to buy domestic equipment. He also gave orders to develop supporting measures for domestic producers of the technique.
